Eli David Adamson

On March, 2 2011, our sweet Eli finally arrived!

He was born at 8:01 pm. Weighed 8lbs, 7oz and was........18, no 19, ummmm we still are not quite sure how many inches long he was when he was born. But we will go with 19.

The birth story!

Eli was due, March 8. Around 37-38 weeks along my bp was starting to get a little high, so my doctor just told me to keep an eye on it. Having a skilled nursing student for a husband this was no problem. My bp would be high when I had been up moving around, but then when I sat down for a while it would go back down. Because it would go back down, it wasn't considered a problem. By week 39 my bp continued to be high and was even getting over the numbers I was told to watch out for.

On Sunday, February 27, we got back from church and I was sitting down watching some award show and I started to get a headache. My doctor had told me to let her know if I started to get headaches, so I figured I should have Myles check my bp and see where it was at. It was over the numbers I had been given to look out for so I laid down for a while and had Myles check it again. It was still over the numbers so we called the L&D nurses to see what we should do. They told us to go ahead and come on in to the hospital. We got there and the first time they took my bp it was high, but then as I laid there for longer it began to go down and we were sent back home.

I stayed home from work Monday, to see if that would help my bp stay down for my next appointment.

I had my next appointment with my OB Dr. on Tuesday, March 1. Again my bp was high. She saw no reason to have me wait a week on bed rest and decided to go ahead and induce, which I was all for! My Dr. was the on call Dr. for the following day, so it would work out great! I left excited that I would soon be meeting my precious little boy!

I left my appointment made phone calls, and then went to work to gather up my things!

They rest of the day I spent getting everything ready and clean for Eli to come home. Then we spent the evening with our very special friends, the Feldmans, eating pizza rolls and talking about the day to come.

We were called by the L&D nurses at 2:15am...yes AM and told us we could come on in to be induced! We made it there by about 3:15am and I was started on cytotec. We just hung out/ slept until my Dr. came in for the day. When she got there she started me on pitocin, which move my labor along and increase my contractions. She also went ahead and broke my water, which I have to say was the most painful part of the whole day....mainly because it wasn't too long before I got an epidural. It was great! I would highly recommend it if you find yourself in labor!

Things progressed slowly throughout the day. Myles and I were kept company by both of our mothers. I would sleep on and off through the day because I knew that soon I would be not getting much sleep!

My dad arrived around 4:30pm and we all made predictions about when Eli would come and how much he would weigh and how long he would be.

Around 7:45pm, my Dr. came in to check on me and cleared everyone out. It was time to push! Myles did a great job coaching and encouraging me. I was determined to just get labor over with as soon as possible so I put my game face on, and Eli was born at 8:01pm!

Eli was bright eyed from birth! Such a sweet, precious, and cute baby! Myles and I had our moment with him and I started learning how to feed him for a few minutes before we invited everyone in to see our new little bundle of joy!

Since my dad won the closest arrival time for Eli we decided he could hold Eli first. And of course, my dad's first conversation with Eli was...."Can you say deer?" "Big buck?" Eli is going to loving hunting with his grandpa!

Sweet boy!

All of the nurses commented on how alert Eli was, how great his personality and temperament was, and of course how cute he was!

We are so thankful for such a great labor and delivery. Everything really went smoothly which was a blessing!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Ketchup?

So....wow.

It has been a while. You would think one would definitely blog through some of the most amazing, life changing months of their life...but nope, I sure didn't.  I would say I feel bad for not doing it, but I really don't because I have been busy soaking up every minute!

I have taken time to adjust to a new life and get the hang of it, and am now ready to hit the record button. Though I did not blog through the last 3 months, I do want to take the time to record the awesome events that have taken place, before they leave my memory.

So blog....lets catch up!
